Positive Areas |
Hi Genevieve, It was a pleasure meeting and working with you yesterday. You showed up at the field in the proper uniform, shirt tucked in, socks up and gave a professional appearance. Together we checked in the teams and you did really well at that. I felt you were very receptive to feedback at half time and using that feedback in the second half. You moved well with the play and tried to get a good view of the play especially in the second half when we adjusted your positioning. |
Areas for Development |
Speaking of positioning - make sure you are close enough to the play and ball to confidently see the ball in/out and which side of the flag it went out of bounds so you call either the throw in or corner/goal kick correctly. Your whistle is your greatest tool - you start play, stop play and end play with your whistle. Since we're not technically stopping play when the ball goes out of bounds, you don't need to whistle each time. If there are subs that you are calling in, you can use your whistle if you want them to hold up on the throw in but they're trying to play quickly (or if the wrong team tries to take the throw in). At the start of the game, use a strong, loud whistle to get the game going. Similarly, at the end of the half and at the end of the game, strong whistles are used to stop play. Don't be pressured to make a quick call. When the ball goes out, think about who the last touch was and which direction the throw in will be taken. Be confident in your calls and decisions and don't be afraid of correcting a mistake, we're human and we are going to make mistakes. It's a good idea to reflect after your game on things you did well and what you can work on in your next game. Keep up the good work!!!
Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything. -- Whitney |

Comments to Bill / Assignors / SRC |
Genevieve performed as expected. She was nervous but called a good game. She was sometimes indecisive and made the wrong call and the coach corrected her and she thought about it and corrected her call - it was more of getting confused with which way each team was attacking more than anything. She was very receptive to feedback and tried to implement it in the second half. I also met mom and she was very supportive of her daughter and appreciative that I came out for her first game. |
